Wildflowers

I do not want change; I want the same old and loved things, the same wild flowers, the same trees and soft ash-green; the turtle-doves, the blackbirds, the coloured yellow-hammer, sing, sing, singing so long as there is light to cast a shadow on the dial, for such is the measure of his song, and I want them in the same place. Let me find them morning after morning, the starry-white petals radiating, striving upwards to their ideal. Let me see the idle shadows resting on the white dust; let me hear the humble-bees, and stay to look down on the rich dandelion disk. Let me see the very thistles opening their great crowns – I should miss the thistles; the reed-grasses hiding the moor-hen; the bryony bine, at first crudely ambitious and lifted by force of youthful sap straight above the hedgerow to sink of its own weight presently and progress with crafty tendrils; swifts shot through the air with outstretched wings like crescent-headed, shaftless arrows darted from the clouds; the chaffinch with a feather in her bill; all the living staircase of the spring, step by step, upwards to the great gallery of the summer – let me watch the same succession year by year”.

Woodland Walk - July

Walking through the woods, sunlight streaming through the pine trees. In amongst the undergrowth, there were tiny toadstools and fungi specimens, entwined in brambles and moss.

Scotland Adventure - Part Two

After packing up our tent, we drove up to the Glencoe Visitor centre where we parked, looked around the exhibition there and also went for a walk through the woodland.

We travelled further to the Glenfinnian monument.

We had a lovely picnic parked up by a loch, and then went for a little walk around the lake side.

And finally , we arrived at Back of Keppoch where we were staying for the night. The campsite was so beautiful and we put up our tent literally two steps away from the beach! It was so sunny and hot that we went for a paddle in the sea and walked along the beach barefoot back to the campsite. The site overlooked the Isle of Rum and Eigg and it was wonderful to watch the sun set amongst the mountains. The campsite was also situated very close to the Jacobite Steam Train Line so we were able to see the steam train travelling through the mountains in the evening.

Scotland Highlands Holiday Part One

We recently returned from a wonderful holiday in Scotland. We've been planning this trip for quite a while and managed to fit in a lot of travelling and exploring!

We left our house really early in the morning so that we could be by Loch Lomond for lunchtime and we had a really lovely sunny picnic sitting on the grass next to the Loch.

We travelled further North to Glencoe, where we stayed the night, pitching our tent in a small Loch side campsite. In the evening, we had a veggie barbecue on the beach and after walked alongside the loch for a little walk , where I photographed the wildflowers.
